I think this site is one of the most active ones. I'm also a member of Korean A.S.(www.koas.org). Anyway, there is a woman who are going to have a baby sooner or later. She is also a member who has disnosed as AS. Her doctor advised her to deliver her baby with Caesarean section. She, however, wants to deliver her baby without any operation. Are there any women who had babies without Caesarean operation here? She should not have one unless there is a specific reason that would endanger her or the baby. Alot of woman like me when they get pregnant, the AS goes into remission. I would tell her that she needs to work with her OB-GYN and her Rhumatologist on which type of delivery would be best for her. Good luck! With so little research in this area, it is hard to know if there is a correlation between the degree of spinal fusion and the need for a c. section. When I delivered my son 12 years ago, it was by c. section. At that time, I had been fused in my lower spine and si joints for several years. I wish your friend a remission-free and healthy pregnancy. Perhaps she might like to discuss AS and pregnancy in more depth in the Women's Forum here.
